Bayelsa Govt, Ijaw leaders, stakeholders celebrate 56th Boro Day
... as Gov. Diri receives new Ijaw Nation Map
The 56th memorial of Late Ijaw freedom fighter and minority rights defender, Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro, held today across the globe to celebrate his heroic stand against injustice to the people of Niger Delta region.
Professor Nimibofa Ayawei, Secretary to the State Government who represented Governor Douye Diri at the 56th Boro Day held at the Heroes Memorial Park, Yenagoa performed the wreath laying alongside the President of Ijaw National Congress, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, President, Ijaw Youth Council, Worldwide, Sir. Jonathan Lokpobiri, and other top government functionaries as well as representative of the Boro's family.
The IYC Central Zone Chairman, Comrade Peres Ineife, had led a peace walk in the morning in Yenagoa as part of activities to mark the day.
On the occasion, the INC President, Prof. Okaba, presented an updated Ijaw Nation map, that contained all Ijaw communities across the various states where indigenous Ijaw people are located.
The SSG received the map on behalf of the Governor.
