Newly inaugurated Commissioner for Labour, Employment and Productivity, Hon. Ebiuwou Koku Obiyai has assured workers of Governor Douye Diri's policy of sustaining the current labour-friendly disposition to all civil servants in Bayelsa State.

Hon. Obiyai gave this assurance on assumption of duty on Tuesday morning at the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Productivity.

The Honourable Commissioner who assumed office as early as 8am on Tuesday morning a day after the successful swearing in and oath of office into the State cabinet, was received by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Hitler Dickson, and other top management staff.

She was escorted round the offices of the Ministry of Labour at Secretariat Annex 5 along Road Safety Road, Yenagoa, while exchanging pleasantries with staffers.
A brief meeting with the Permanent Secretary, Management and staff of the ministry was held at the Commissioner's office as she urged staffers to be efficient and productive in implementation of the prosperity policies on labour related matters.

"I want to urge all staff to sustain the spirit of productivity as I have observed as I walked in. Ensure you are prudent with government duties and give your best to continue to improve the polity as government workers. Feel free to exchange ideas with me at all times as I operate an open door policy to relate with staffers without any inhibitions." She charged the staff.

The Permanent Secretary, Mr Hitler Dickson welcomed her and acknowledged her expertise in the labour movement that shall come handy for the ministry.
Mr Dickson briefed her of the ministry's plans for tomorrow's May Day Celebration and other matters as he assured that the Prosperity-led Government of Senator Souye Diri has been upbeat to give workers a fulfilling Labour Day celebration on May Day which is the next day.

Head of Administration, Comrade Dagogo Edmundson and the Director of Finance and Administration of the Labour Ministry, Mrs Daisy Goldie, joined other management staff to express their delight at her deployment to the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Productivity, as they assured her of a working synergy to take the ministry to higher pedestal.

An open session for staff and management to introduce themselves one after another ws held as they freely express their challenges and prospects to the newly deployed commissioner who assured them of being proactive to service delivery.

The staff expressed joy in having a seasoned labour labour leader and activist as commissioner as they affirmed that this move by Governor Diri was in the right direction as they get set to mark the 2024 Labour Day on the first of May in grand style.

A group photographer of all staff, management and the Permanent Secretary, with the new commissioner, Hon. Obiyai, was held at the ground floor entrance of the ministry to wrap up the assumption of duty brief ceremony.

Also present were the State Council Chairmen of the NLC (Comrade Simon Barnabas and TUC (Comrade (Dr) Laye Julius).
