Gov. Diri graces maiden Engr. Olice STEM quiz competition in Yenagoa
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri alongside his wife, Dr.(Mrs) Gloria Diri, today, graced the maiden edition of Engr. Olice D. Kemenanabo STEM quiz competition and award ceremony at the Dappa-Biriye conference hall, Golden Tulip Hotel, Onopa, Yenagoa.
The programme is in collaboration with the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) and the Techiegirl Initiative tagged, "Breaking Barriers: The Transformative Impact of Women in Traditionally Male-Dominated Fields."
Governor Diri, in his remarks, commended APWEN for their great work in grooming young girls in the state to become sound and professional engineers, stating that as professional engineers, they are the torchbearers of the state government's educational policies on Science, technology and vocational studies.
While thanking God for the life of Engr. Olice Kemenanabo, the Governor said he deserves to be celebrated and encouraged him to continue mentoring the younger ones in the field of Electrical Engineering.
"I believe that this is the first time Engr. Olice is being celebrated in this manner since after the accident, so, I give kudos to APWEN, Bayelsa chapter.
Dignitaries at the event include, Hon. Oboku Oforji, member representing Yenagoa/Kolokuma-Opokuma Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Edwin Monday Bubou Obolo, Leader of the State House of Assembly and other members of the state House of Assembly, Dr. Peter Akpe, Chief of Staff, Government House, Mr. Irorodamie Komonibo, Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, members of the state executive council, HRM, King Onya Mozi Agara, Ibedaowei of Kolokuma Kingdom, senior citizens of Bayelsa State including Mr. Gesi Asamaowei and other top government officials.
