How Can You replace Filthy Rags With Another Filthy Rags:- PDP Queries Tinubu On New Ministers

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed strong disapproval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's recent cabinet reshuffle, particularly questioning the merit of the new ministers appointed to replace those recently dismissed.

Concerns Over Cabinet Changes

In response to the president’s decision to streamline governance for improved efficiency, the PDP has raised concerns about the quality and intentions behind these changes. President Tinubu, after a Federal Executive Council meeting, dismissed five ministers and appointed seven new ones. The reshuffle was part of a broader administrative restructuring aimed at merging several ministries and enhancing overall governmental operations.

PDP's Response: A "Domestic Arrangement"

The Deputy National Youth Leader of the PDP, Timothy Osadolor, described the reshuffle as a superficial move. In an interview with The Punch, he criticized the president’s actions as a distraction from the country's more pressing issues. Osadolor referred to the reshuffle as a mere “domestic arrangement,” meant to divert public attention rather than address the real challenges facing the nation.

"Replacing Filthy Rags with Filthy Rags"

Osadolor’s metaphorical criticism encapsulated the PDP's dissatisfaction with the reshuffle. “How can you replace filthy rags with another set of filthy rags?” he asked, suggesting that the new ministers are no better than their predecessors. According to Osadolor, the reshuffle is a "cosmetic arrangement" designed to deceive the Nigerian public.

The Nation's Real Needs

Osadolor stressed that Nigerians are suffering from more immediate issues, such as hunger, insecurity, and economic instability. “The Nigerian masses are hungry and dying. What they need is not a changing of ministers and renaming of ministries,” he stated. Instead, he emphasized the need for tangible solutions, including security, job creation, stable power supply, and overall national stability.
