Marvin Yobana, the former Africa Representative at the World Assembly of Youths, has strongly criticized comments made by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, concerning Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara. Wike had labeled Fubara a "green snake in green grass," sparking public controversy. Yobana, in a recent interview, condemned the comment, describing it as both demeaning and inappropriate for any individual, much less a political figure.

A Tarnishing Allegation

In an interview with Arise News, Yobana expressed deep dismay over Wike’s statement. “I’ve listened keenly to certain statements attributed to the FCT Minister. He referred to the Governor of Rivers State as a green snake in green grass. That assertion is demeaning of anybody as a human being. You don’t relate humans to animals,” Yobana remarked. He emphasized that such remarks diminish the dignity of public discourse.

Betrayals That Mark Wike’s Career

Yobana went on to question the irony of Wike’s accusation, pointing out that Wike himself has a history of political betrayals. In fact, Yobana suggested that Wike’s political journey is marked by a series of betrayals of key allies who were instrumental in his rise to power. He cited Sir Peter Odili, who helped Wike ascend to the position of Local Government Chairman, and Rotimi Amaechi, former Rivers State Governor, who appointed Wike as Chief of Staff and later nominated him as Minister.

“Is it not the same Wike who betrayed Amaechi, the man who appointed him and trusted him with key roles in his government?” Yobana asked. He further referenced Wike’s betrayal of former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, who supported Wike’s bid for governorship after he was appointed as Minister under Jonathan’s administration.

Fubara’s Sacrifices

Yobana was especially critical of Wike’s betrayal of Governor Fubara, whom he claimed sacrificed his professional career to protect Wike. “Governor Fubara sacrificed his career to help Wike, even shielding him from the EFCC when Wike was under investigation,” Yobana revealed. According to him, Fubara’s loyalty to Wike during those turbulent times makes Wike’s recent betrayal all the more glaring.

A Judas-Like Betrayal

Drawing a historical comparison, Yobana likened Wike’s actions to the Biblical figure of Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus Christ for 30 pieces of silver. He questioned whether Wike’s constant betrayal of allies was a reflection of a cunning nature, incapable of standing for truth and loyalty.

The People's Democratic Party Betrayal

In a final blow, Yobana accused Wike of betraying the People's Democratic Party (PDP) during the last election, aligning with forces that went against the party’s interests. He challenged Wike to name a single individual that Fubara has betrayed, contrasting Fubara’s loyalty with Wike’s pattern of duplicity.

Yobana’s remarks paint Wike as a figure whose political career is marked by repeated acts of betrayal, raising questions about his true character and loyalty to those who have supported him
