World School Sports in Bahrain: 12 Athletes, 3 coaches from Bayelsa make Nigerian team to ISF Gymnasiade
12 students from Bayelsa State are now in the Kingdom of Bahrain for this year’s World School Games.
Four students each from both Bishop Dimeari Grammar School, Yenagoa and St. Jude’s Girls Secondary School, Amarata are representing Nigeria in the boys and girls Basketball events in Bahrain.
In the track and field events, 4 athletes from Bayelsa State are representing Nigeria in the sprint and jump events.
Brass-born Opinion Precious will compete in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump for boys while Godwin Tejiri and David Michael will hit the track for 100metres, 200 metres and 4 by 100 metres relay boys.
The only girl in the Bayelsa athletics team, Perezide Sigah, will represent Nigeria in both 100m and 200m girls race.
Bayelsa State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Gentle Emelah, is with the Bayelsa State contingent in Bahrain.
Dr. Emelah, who said the team arrived safely in the Asian country, thanked Governor Douye Diri, for the sponsorship of the team to the competition that will expose the young lads to new life experience and opportunities.
Bayelsa-born Godwin Abari Adagbo, Coordinator of Nigeria School Sports Federation in the State has been named General Manager for Team Nigeria ISF GYMNASIADE Bahrain 2024.
