FCT, Abuja – A prominent data analyst, Kolawole Johnson, has identified the Chief of Staff (CoS) to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, as potentially the "biggest loser" if President Bola Tinubu decides to dissolve or reshuffle his cabinet.

Speaking on Politics Today, a program aired on Channels Television on Wednesday, October 2, Johnson expressed his surprise that the president had not yet dissolved the cabinet. The analyst's observations have come amid widespread speculation about an impending shake-up, which many believe could lead to the exit of several high-profile officials.

Potential Impact on Gbajabiamila

Johnson particularly focused on Gbajabiamila, who has been serving as Tinubu’s Chief of Staff. The analyst noted that, despite Gbajabiamila’s wealth of experience and longstanding presence in government, he could be among the first to face the consequences of a cabinet reshuffle.

"I think one of the biggest losers in the anticipated reshuffle could be Femi Gbajabiamila, unfortunately," Johnson stated. He went on to explain that Gbajabiamila’s considerable political experience might not be enough to secure his position if the president decides to make sweeping changes. "With his experience and the fact that he has been there for a while, I don’t think the president would miss him so much," Johnson added.

Calls for Cabinet Reshuffle Intensify

There has been growing public pressure on President Tinubu to review the performance of his ministers and other top officials, especially in light of economic challenges that have worsened since his administration took office on May 29, 2023. Citizens have voiced frustration over policies that have led to significant increases in fuel prices and the sharp depreciation of the naira.

Critics argue that some members of the cabinet have underperformed and are calling for fresh appointments to help steer the country out of its economic crisis. In response, the president's special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, stated on September 25 that Tinubu had expressed his intention to reshuffle the cabinet, although no official timeline for the changes has been provided.

What Lies Ahead?

As the public waits for President Tinubu to act on his reported intentions, political analysts like Johnson continue to speculate on who may be affected by a cabinet reshuffle. For now, all eyes are on figures like Gbajabiamila, whose fate could serve as a bellwether for broader changes within the administration.

If and when the reshuffle happens, it is likely to spark further debate over the effectiveness of Tinubu’s government, as well as its ability to navigate Nigeria through its current economic and social challenges
