Wike Declares His Influence: "Nobody Can Be Anything Without Me"
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has made a bold declaration, stating that "nobody can be anything" without his involvement. Wike, known for his outspoken nature, made this statement during a stakeholders' luncheon in Port Harcourt on Friday night.
A Warning of Impending Developments in Rivers State
Speaking at the event, Wike hinted at an impending occurrence in Rivers State that he claims will leave many shocked. He emphasized that his current engagements are beyond party affiliations, describing them as a broader movement.
“There is something that will happen in this state that everybody will know. The ongoing movement is not a party movement; it’s a movement you will see. Forget about their claims,” Wike stated, urging stakeholders to pay attention to upcoming developments.
Allegations of Betrayal by Former Allies
The Minister recounted his efforts to support and reconcile prominent figures like Celestine Omehia and Dr. Peter Odili, expressing disappointment that these individuals, who once benefitted from his assistance, are now allegedly working against him.
Wike remarked, “I assisted Celestine Omehia and reconciled him with Dr. Peter Odili. But look at what they are doing now. Ingrates! It’s unfortunate that people forget so easily.”
Reflection on Political Challenges and Triumphs
Wike also reflected on the challenges he has faced throughout his political career, revealing the extent of adversities he has overcome.
“If you follow my political history, it has never been easy. I have been charged with murder and armed robbery—all because of politics. There is nothing I haven’t passed through. But I know that, in the end, we will overcome,” he said.
The Minister dismissed claims that he sought to transform Rivers State into a "personal estate," referencing accusations made against him in the past. He challenged critics to point to any evidence that supports these claims.
“Based on the documentary you watched, was there any mention of my family? Where did they get the idea that I wanted to convert Rivers State into my personal estate? Whatever you cannot do, just say you cannot do it.”
A Message to Political Adversaries
In a veiled reference to Magnus Abe and others, Wike suggested that some political figures would have been exploited had they aligned with his opponents. He reiterated the importance of standing one’s ground and remaining true to oneself.
“If Magnus Abe had made the mistake of joining them, they would have used him as their spokesperson. Time will come, and everyone will know who is who. We are all working together now, but one day, it will happen.”
A Promise of More Revelations
Wike concluded his remarks with a promise to release further evidence against his adversaries, stating that the second phase of a documentary exposing their actions will be unveiled at the appropriate time.
“One day, it will happen. When the time comes, we will know who is who. If they react in the next 24 hours, I will release another one. Let’s wait and see.”
A Polarizing Leader
Wike’s comments once again highlight his combative political style and his deep-seated grievances with those he perceives as disloyal or ungrateful. His statements suggest that Rivers State may witness significant political developments in the near future, as Wike continues to assert his influence on the state’s political landscape
