Violent Attack on ADC Stakeholders’ Meeting in Kaduna
I, Abdul-Malik Rabiu Jaafar, Aspirant for the position of National Youth Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), deeply condemn and bring to the attention of Nigerians and the international community the violent disruption of our peaceful stakeholders’ meeting and leadership inauguration held today at the NUT Conference Hall, Kaduna.
The gathering, which commenced in an atmosphere of unity and purpose, was attended by party stakeholders, respected leaders, and dignitaries across political divides. Unfortunately, this peaceful event was abruptly disrupted by suspected APC-sponsored thugs, leaving over 50 persons injured and several vehicles belonging to participants destroyed.
Dignitaries in Attendance
The event was graced by eminent personalities, including:
Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Former Governor of Kaduna State
Hon. Jaafaru Sani, Deputy National Chairman, ADC (Northwest)
Alhaji Bashir Sa’idu, former Chief of Staff, Kaduna State
Hon. Nasir Maikano, SDP Kaduna State Chairman
Mrs. Sarah Kagarko, ADC Deputy National Women Leader
Hon. Aliyu Bello, former PDP Kaduna State Youth Leader and Financial Secretary
Engr. Shamsudeen Lawal (Prof.), SA to H.E. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar
Hon. Hafiz Bayero
Hajiya Aisha Mai-rago
Hon. Muhammad Saeed Muhammad Namallama, ADC National Youth Vanguard Northwest Coordinator
Hon. Jeffery Yakubu, Organizing Secretary, ADC Media Forum
Myself, alongside many other distinguished leaders and party members.
APC’s Politics of Violence
This brazen attack represents yet another instance of the APC’s increasing reliance on thuggery and intimidation to silence opposition voices in Kaduna State. Rather than engaging in healthy political competition, the ruling party has chosen to perpetuate fear and violence, clearly revealing its anxiety over the rising popularity and strength of the ADC and other progressive platforms.
Call for Justice and Accountability
We call on Nigeria’s security agencies to rise to their constitutional responsibility by identifying, arresting, and prosecuting the perpetrators and their sponsors. Democracy cannot flourish in an environment where fear and violence are weaponized against citizens and political opponents.
ADC’s Unwavering Resolve
Let it be unequivocally stated: this attack will not deter the ADC, nor will it silence the collective voice of Nigerian youths yearning for genuine change. On the contrary, it has strengthened our determination to unite, mobilize, and liberate Kaduna and Nigeria at large from a system that thrives on intimidation and lawlessness.
The ADC remains a symbol of peace, progress, and people-centered governance. We will never bow to violence. Instead, we will continue to stand with Nigerian youths and progressive citizens committed to building a nation where democracy—not thuggery—reigns supreme.
Signed
Abdul-Malik Rabiu Jaafar
Aspirant, ADC National Youth Leader
