NIIA Hosts Foreign Policy Lecture Series on Africa’s Rising Global Significance with Ambassador Godknows Igali as Keynote Speaker

The Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) will on Wednesday, 10th September 2025, host its Foreign Policy Lecture Series on the theme: “Africa’s Rising Importance in International Politics: Realising the Continent’s Great Significance in International Relations.” The event will take place at the Conference Chamber, NIIA Headquarters, Victoria Island, Lagos, starting at 11:00 AM.

Delivering the keynote address is Ambassador Dr. Godknows Bolade Igali, a seasoned diplomat, scholar, and former Ambassador to the Scandinavian countries. Dr. Igali, who also served as Permanent Secretary in Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Power, brings a wealth of experience in governance, diplomacy, and international affairs.

The lecture series is part of NIIA’s commitment to fostering dialogue on global issues and Nigeria’s role in international relations. It is expected to draw participation from policymakers, diplomats, academics, civil society, and the media, providing fresh perspectives on Africa’s growing relevance in shaping the global order.
