...attends Mother's Service of songs
Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri alongside his wife, Justice Ama Pat Zuofa-Diri yesterday, attended the service of songs in honour of Late Mrs. Winneba Ibe Etebu.

Late Mrs. Etebu who died at the age of 86 years is mother of Prof. Ebitimitula Etebu, Vice Chancellor of the Bayelsa Medical University, Yenagoa.

"I've often said that there is nobody that is too old to die, but we are grateful today, that mama lived an accomplished life.

Most of us might not have had a personal knowledge about her, but the Bible says, By their fruits we shall know them. So when you see the personality of Prof. Etebu and all his siblings, clearly you will know that Mama was a woman of God, she lived a good life and she was a peaceful woman.

Today, we are here to bid her farewell in this service of songs. On behalf of the government and good people of Bayelsa State, we send our heartfelt condolences to the Etebu family and the Odi community. We pray that God will give you the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss," Governor Diri stated.

The governor was accompanied to the service of songs by, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, Speaker, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Justice Matilda Abrakasa Ayemieye, Chief Judge of Bayelsa State, Hon. Justice Daniel Ayah, President of the Customary Court of Appeal, members of the state executive council and other top government officials.
