The National Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) overseeing Edo State, Professor Rhoda Gumus, has reaffirmed her commitment to upholding integrity in the upcoming governorship election.

No Room for Bribery

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Gumus emphasized her refusal to accept any form of bribe during the election scheduled for September 21. She urged politicians and stakeholders not to approach her with any offers, highlighting the reputation she has built over the years.

“I will not collect bribes, no matter the amount," she said. "I don’t need billions to do the right thing.”

Ensuring Free and Fair Elections

Gumus reassured the public of her dedication to conducting a free, fair, and credible election. She also expressed confidence that her established principles and integrity would deter any attempts to influence her decisions.

“Nobody will try to bribe me because they know my standards,” she stated. “If I see any attempt, I will not allow it.”
