In a recent social media post, Nigerian investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo made a bold claim, stating that President Bola Tinubu may not remain in office until December 2024. The post, which appeared on X (formerly Twitter), was shared by the controversial figure and has since garnered significant attention.

Olunloyo referenced ongoing issues within the current administration, emphasizing a number of serious challenges facing the presidency. She stated that the U.S. Biden administration has reportedly refused to grant President Tinubu an audience on three separate occasions, a diplomatic snub that she claims underscores the need for a complete overhaul of Tinubu’s team.

Among the points raised by Olunloyo was the firing of Ajuri Ngelale, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, which she claimed occurred earlier the same day. According to her, this dismissal highlights broader inefficiencies in the current government, particularly with key officials having been recycled from the previous Buhari administration, which she criticized as being ineffective. She went as far as to call for a comprehensive reshuffle, including the replacement of several ministers she described as “useless.”

Olunloyo also expressed doubt regarding Tinubu's reported medical condition, alleging that it was a fabrication designed to mislead the public. She claimed that the administration is using the president's health as a distraction from other pressing issues.

Another concern Olunloyo raised involved the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPCL). She criticized the corporation's recent comments about matching local fuel prices with those of other refineries, questioning the practicality of such a move given that many refineries in the country are not operational. This, she noted, is leading to ongoing fuel shortages and price hikes, which continue to exacerbate the economic struggles of ordinary Nigerians.

Olunloyo’s prediction that President Tinubu may not last in office until December 2024 was the most striking aspect of her post. While she did not provide specific details to support this claim, the combination of diplomatic challenges, internal governmental issues, and the mounting economic crisis appear to be key factors driving her prediction.

As with many of Olunloyo’s assertions, this latest post has sparked debate among Nigerians. Some have dismissed her statements as speculative, while others believe her observations about the ongoing fuel crisis and administrative inefficiencies raise valid concerns. The growing discontent among citizens, driven by inflation, fuel shortages, and other economic pressures, has put increasing scrutiny on Tinubu's government since he took office.

Only time will tell if Kemi Olunloyo's prediction holds any weight. Nonetheless, her remarks have added another layer of controversy to the already turbulent political landscape in Nigeria
