Kwankwaso Laments Hardship in Northern Nigeria

The New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) presidential candidate in the last general election, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has voiced his concerns about the deteriorating conditions in Nigeria, particularly in the northern region. Speaking during a meeting with defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kwankwaso expressed the growing discontent among Nigerians over the current state of governance.

Defection from APC to NNPP Marks Significant Shift

Kwankwaso made these remarks while welcoming former APC members who had defected to the NNPP. The new members hailed from the Dala, Kiru, and Gwale local government areas in Kano. The event took place at Kwankwaso's residence on Miller Road, where he emphasized that the administration of the APC has failed to serve the needs of the poor masses.

APC’s Failure to Address Insecurity and Poverty

The former Kano State governor criticized the APC government, stating that it had betrayed the trust of the people, particularly those who believed the party would alleviate poverty and insecurity. "The APC, which was established to ease the suffering of the masses, has now turned against them," Kwankwaso said, noting how insecurity and poverty continue to worsen across the country.

Hope for Change in the 2027 Elections

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Kwankwaso expressed optimism that Nigerians would take action to change the current government. He noted that the level of dissatisfaction with the APC is growing, particularly in the northern region. "Nigerians, especially northerners, have suffered enough, and no amount of pressure or intimidation will change their minds," Kwankwaso stated.

A Call for Reflection and Determination

Kwankwaso urged Nigerians to critically reflect on the current political landscape, stressing that the APC-led government is firmly against the interests of the poor. "It is clear that the APC has no intention of changing its approach. Despite their plans to manipulate security agents and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the forthcoming elections, Nigerians are tired and will fight for change," he added.

Defection Marks a Historic Moment for NNPP

The NNPP leader described the defection event as historic, citing the significant number of APC members from the wards of Dala, Kiru, Gwale, and Dawakintofa local governments who joined the NNPP. He emphasized that this development reflects a growing shift in political allegiances as Nigerians seek alternatives to the current leadership.

The defection to the NNPP signals increasing dissatisfaction with the APC, reinforcing the belief that the 2027 elections could bring about significant political change in Nigeria.
