Prominent Niger Delta leaders including Egberipapa, Asabuja, King Ateke Tom, and Asari have declared their unwavering support for Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara amidst his ongoing feud with former governor Nyesom Wike. The leaders made their stance clear, emphasizing their backing of Fubara as the rightful leader of the state and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure in Rivers.
The declaration comes as tensions continue to escalate between Governor Fubara and Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Wike had previously criticized Fubara for supporting the Action Peoples Party (APP), which he deemed a lesser party compared to the PDP. However, Fubara has stood his ground, asserting that Rivers State is nobody's enterprise and that he is committed to protecting the soul of the state.
In a powerful statement, Governor Fubara declared, "Rivers State is nobody's enterprise. So, you have to stand strong and fight."He accused his political enemies of attempting to control the state as their personal estate but affirmed that his administration had already taken charge to secure the common ownership of Rivers by its people
