Governor Fubara's Declaration Against Blackmail
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed that his administration will not succumb to any form of blackmail, whether from individuals or groups. His focus remains on delivering quality governance and advancing the overall development of the state. The governor made this clear during the celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day at the Government House Arcade in Port Harcourt, emphasizing his commitment to good governance and the state’s progress.
Speaking through a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara stressed that his administration is dedicated to strengthening peace, governance, and economic development in Rivers State.
Recognition of National Leadership and Reforms
Governor Fubara also expressed his appreciation for President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as “bold and pragmatic” measures that are essential for addressing the nation’s structural challenges. He noted that these reforms are aimed at fostering long-term growth and prosperity for Nigeria. Fubara acknowledged the complexity of the challenges the country faces but praised the president’s determination to steer the nation towards sustainable development.

Reflecting on Nigeria’s journey since independence, Fubara highlighted the significance of October 1, 1960, when Nigeria gained freedom from British colonial rule. He called on his fellow governors to strengthen efforts to combat insecurity, banditry, and oil theft, particularly in the Niger Delta region, which is crucial for the success of the economic reforms initiated by President Tinubu.
