3rd Gov. Douye Diri Wrestling Classics/13th National Wrestling Championship: Gov. Diri attends grand finale

...as Team Bayelsa wins overall medals

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri today attended the closing ceremony of the 3rd Governor Douye Diri Wrestling Classics/13th National Wrestling Championship held at Sports complex, Yenagoa.
Gov. Diri said Bayelsa State government was hosting various sports events because it is a very huge human capital investment.

The governor equally said the State government will continue to invest in sports for the development of Bayelsa youths.
"Firstly, sports is one thing that is pivotal in our youths realizing their talents. And we have very raw talents across Nigeria.

And so, the only way to tap in is for us to continue to organize this type of events, where raw talents will be discovered, and when the old ones are going away, we will have newer  and better skilled sports men and women, particularly for today's event in wrestling.
Let me appreciate the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, under the dynamic leadership of our own son and Commissioner for Sports, Champion Daniel Igali and all members of the Federation who had supported him to continue to make Nigeria proud.
Some persons will be asking why is Bayelsa hosting every other thing in sports, it is an investment you can't see by way of construction of roads or houses. We can build all the roads or schools but we must build the human beings.

And that is why we are interested in building our youths that have raw talents in wrestling, football, athletics, table tennis and every other sports. Bayelsa State government will continue to invest in our youths year in year out”, Gov. Diri stated.

Dignitaries at the event include; Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrujakpo, Chief of Defence Staff(Christopher Musa OFR) represented by Rear Admiral J. U. Okeke, Comptroller- General of Customs, Alhaji Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, Chairman National Sports Commission (Mallam Shehu Dikko) represented by Mr. Olufemi Ajao, Leader of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt.
