Rivers People Stand United Against Wike's Influence Over Governor Sim Fubara
In a recent statement, former Rivers State lawmaker Hon. Robinson Nnam Ewoh offered pointed remarks about Nyesom Wike, the current Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister and former Rivers State governor. According to Ewoh, Wike's leadership has prioritized personal gain over the needs and welfare of the people, leaving Rivers State residents determined to shield their governor, Siminalayi Fubara, from undue interference.
Ewoh Criticizes Wike’s Leadership Record
In a video interview with Symfoni TV, Ewoh criticized Wike’s public service history, arguing that his focus has been self-centered. Reflecting on Wike’s political career since his 1999 role as a local government chairman, Ewoh asserted that Wike has shown little regard for the welfare of Rivers State residents, instead concentrating on his personal agenda of wealth accumulation and power consolidation.
Support for Sim Fubara’s PDP Candidacy
Turning to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its present situation in Rivers State, Ewoh remarked that Wike has publicly claimed to support Governor Fubara. However, Ewoh emphasized that Fubara's victory in the gubernatorial election was secured through the support of Rivers State’s citizens and his alignment with the PDP platform—not solely due to Wike’s influence.
“Wike may have supported Sim,” Ewoh stated, “but it was not Wike’s influence alone that secured Fubara's success; the people of Rivers chose him among various other candidates.”
Rivers People Reject Wike's Attempts to Undermine PDP Leadership
Ewoh further criticized Wike's track record of destabilizing the PDP, citing past incidents where Wike reportedly played a role in removing PDP leaders such as Alimodu Sheriff, Uche Secondus, and Iyorchia Ayu. Ewoh claimed that Wike’s alleged tendency to disrupt party unity was met with firm resistance this time, as Rivers residents have made it clear they will not tolerate similar interference with Governor Fubara.
"Rivers people have spoken; we have come together to say that Wike cannot pull down Sim Fubara," Ewoh asserted. "Wike may have attempted to disrupt the PDP in the past, but our state stands united to prevent any actions that would undermine Governor Fubara's leadership."
A Unified Stand for Progress in Rivers State
In his concluding remarks, Ewoh celebrated the unity and resolve of Rivers residents in defending their choice of governor. He urged the people to maintain their stance, stressing that the days of allowing individuals to destabilize governance for personal motives are over. "Rivers people have united to say Wike can no longer pull down Sim Fubara, and that will not happen," Ewoh stated firmly, highlighting the people's commitment to stability and progress
