The 21st Century Youths of Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience (21st CYNDAC) have voiced strong criticism against President Bola Tinubu for his perceived silence amidst the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State, describing it as "disturbing, worrisome, and unacceptable," according to a report by Vanguard.

In a statement issued by Izon Ebi, leader of the Niger Delta group, they attributed the crisis to the influence exerted by Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Governor of Rivers State. Ebi pointed out that the conflict stems from a power struggle between a renegade political leader and his protégé, characterized by attempts to monopolize state resources and institutions for personal gain and that of his loyalists.

"The current political unrest in Rivers State poses a significant risk to regional stability and threatens the realization of developmental initiatives," Ebi warned, calling upon President Tinubu to intervene decisively. "Prompt intervention is crucial to forestall further escalation that could undermine the region's progress under the renewed Hope agenda."

Emphasizing the principles of equality and peace, Ebi urged all stakeholders to uphold respect and non-violence. "No individual should wield undue influence or resort to disruptive tactics that impede the state's advancement," he emphasized.

The statement also criticized the perceived partisan actions of security agencies, particularly the sealing of local government offices, which CYNDAC condemned as undermining the impartiality expected of public institutions.

CYNDAC further highlighted widespread public support for Governor Similaye Fubara and expressed concern over recent incidents of unrest, including an explosion during a public demonstration, which they alleged to be orchestrated to destabilize the state.

In conclusion, Ebi reiterated CYNDAC's stance against any sanctioning of Nyesom Wike's purported quest for political control over state governance structures. "President Tinubu must assert leadership to uphold constitutional order and safeguard regional stability," he asserted. "Addressing the current crisis proactively is pivotal to preserving peace and promoting sustainable development in Rivers State and beyond.
