The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of four new Commissioners of Police to head key state commands in Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi, and Akwa Ibom. This decision comes in response to recent promotions of senior officers, which created vacancies in several states.

New Commissioners of Police Appointed

The following officers have been appointed to oversee security management in their respective states:

  • Isah Danladi Nda – Abia State Command
  • Olarewaju Ishola Olawale – Lagos State Command
  • Anthonia Adaku Uche Anya, fdc – Ebonyi State Command
  • Miller Gajere Dantawaye – Akwa Ibom State Command

These appointments reflect the Commission’s commitment to strengthening leadership within the Nigeria Police Force and addressing the security challenges faced by each state.

Expectations from the New Appointments

Retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Hashimu Argungu, Chairman of the PSC, highlighted the critical importance of the newly appointed Commissioners making an immediate and significant impact on security in their respective commands. Argungu emphasized that the Commission will maintain close oversight of their performance and expects them to take proactive measures to address the unique security needs of their regions.

He urged the Commissioners to prioritize building a professional, competent, and efficient Police Force, tailored to the specific demands of each state. In a statement issued by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations for the PSC, Argungu reaffirmed the Commission’s ongoing support to ensure the new Commissioners achieve optimal service delivery. He encouraged them to adopt a leadership style that promotes accountability, transparency, and effective policing strategies.

The appointments, which were approved and signed by Onyemuche Nnamani, Secretary to the Commission, have already been communicated to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olukayode Egbetokun for immediate implementation.
