Niger Delta Promoters of Peace have issued a scathing statement condemning Fubara. Segun Showunmi in his recent criticism of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The group has characterized Showunmi’s comments as malicious and unwarranted, urging him to focus on his own state rather than meddling in the political affairs of Rivers State.

Unwarranted Criticism of Governor Fubara

Showunmi recently criticized Governor Fubara for allegedly acting against his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, without the full backing of the state legislature. The Niger Delta Peace Movement rebuked Showunmi’s comments, calling them an ill-advised and uninformed attack on Governor Fubara’s leadership. According to the group, Showunmi should focus on addressing issues within his own state and family, instead of involving himself in Rivers State politics.

"Segun Showunmi's remarks are not only unnecessary but completely misdirected," the group stated. "He has no standing to interfere in the political landscape of Rivers State, and his attacks on Governor Fubara are baseless."

Showunmi’s Allegiance Questioned

The Group  did not mince words in questioning Showunmi's loyalty to the PDP, labeling him a "fake PDP man." They expressed outrage over his failure to criticize the former governor, Nyesom Wike, who they believe is the real source of the political tensions in Rivers State. The group asserted that Showunmi’s comments demonstrate a lack of understanding of the complex political dynamics in Rivers.

"Instead of criticizing Governor Fubara, who is working tirelessly to guide the state toward progress, Showunmi should direct his criticism at Wike, the architect of Rivers State’s political troubles," a spokesperson for the group, Comrade Edison Ibianga said. "His feigned loyalty to the PDP and opportunistic remarks should be a matter of deep shame for him."

Showunmi’s Remarks on Political Strategy Criticized

During a recent interview on Arise TV, Showunmi drew comparisons between Rivers State and Ogun State, suggesting that Governor Fubara should have adopted a more strategic approach in handling political tensions. He referenced Ogun’s former Governor Ibikunle Amosun, who allegedly secured the backing of the state Assembly, Senators, and Representatives before asserting his authority, and implied that Governor Fubara lacked the political tact to do the same.

The Group dismissed these comparisons as both ignorant and irrelevant, emphasizing the unique political context in Rivers. "This is not Ogun State. The dynamics in Rivers are entirely different, and Governor Fubara does not need lessons from someone who cannot even manage his own political affairs," the group stated. "Showunmi’s remarks reveal his superficial understanding of Rivers’ complex political realities."

Warnings to Showunmi

The Niger Delta Peace Movement  did not shy away from issuing a stern warning to Showunmi, calling him a "wicked man from the pit of hell" whose sole aim is to sow discord and division within the PDP in Rivers State. They made it clear that his attempts to interfere in Rivers politics will fail, as Governor Fubara enjoys the full backing of those dedicated to the state's progress.

"Segun Showunmi should refrain from further meddling in Rivers State affairs," the group warned. "His underhanded attempts to create conflict will not succeed, as Governor Fubara commands strong support from those committed to the development of Rivers State."

Conclusion:

Focus on Personal and His State's Issues

In their concluding remarks, the the Group urged Showunmi to redirect his attention to the challenges facing his own state and personal life, rather than launching attacks on Governor Fubara. "Rivers State is not a political playground for outsiders," the group asserted. "Showunmi would do well to mind his own business and focus on issues that concern him, rather than meddling in matters beyond his understanding."

They reiterated their commitment to supporting Governor Fubara’s efforts to lead Rivers State toward greater prosperity and stability, free from the interference of opportunists like Showunmi
