The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has been rocked by the abduction and subsequent murder of its Chairman for Suru Local Government Area, Alhaji Bako Bala. This tragic incident underscores the growing security concerns in the region, where violent crimes have continued to escalate.

Abduction and Brutal Killing

Alhaji Bako Bala was kidnapped in his hometown by armed assailants. According to a report posted on the official Facebook page of the Special Adviser to the Governor of Kebbi State on Television and Radio, Alhaji Zaidu Bala Kofa Sabuwa, the gunmen ambushed Bala, shot him, and left him abandoned in a pool of blood. The shocking attack occurred in broad daylight, leaving the local community in fear and mourning.

Following the incident, Bala was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Wednesday. His death marks another dark chapter in the ongoing violence affecting the state.

Related Incident in Matseri Village

In another troubling development, bandits are reported to have kidnapped a person in Matseri village, located within the Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State. During this attack, a young man was also shot and is currently receiving medical treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi. This incident highlights the widespread nature of insecurity in Kebbi, as criminal elements continue to target residents across various localities.

Security Challenges in Kebbi State

Despite ongoing efforts by security agencies, supported by the state government, to tackle crime and dismantle criminal hideouts, the frequency of kidnappings for ransom has continued to rise. The spate of abductions and violence is causing significant concern among residents, who have been calling for more robust measures to address the insecurity.

Repeated attempts to contact the Kebbi State Police Command spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, for official comment on these incidents were unsuccessful. The silence from authorities further compounds the anxiety in the region, with many questioning the effectiveness of current security strategies.

As Kebbi State grapples with these increasing acts of violence, the public remains hopeful that the government and security forces will intensify their efforts to restore peace and ensure the safety of its citizens.
