In a recent development, a lawyer representing clients in Sabon Lugbe, Abuja, has called for President Bola Tinubu to remove the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, citing alleged abuses of power and property seizures. The legal representative claimed Wike forcibly displaced residents and seized their land despite the owners possessing government-issued documents proving ownership.

Allegations of Illegal Land Seizures

According to the lawyer, Wike disregarded the legitimate documentation of land ownership held by the affected residents and proceeded to offer the land for sale. These actions, he argued, have left many families homeless and destabilized the local community. The lawyer highlighted these grievances during a press conference, which was later aired by Symfoni TV, demanding that Wike be immediately removed from his ministerial position.

Impact on Lives and the FCT Land Department

The lawyer alleged that Wike’s brief tenure as the FCT Minister has already led to substantial turnover within the FCT's land department. "In the short period that Wike has been in office, four directors in the land department have either resigned or been replaced," he stated. According to him, this frequent reshuffling stems from Wike’s desire to retain only those who comply with his agenda. The lawyer argued that Wike's actions have not only disrupted the lives of residents but have also caused significant disarray within the FCT's administrative structure.

A Call for Justice and Security Intervention

Citing the hardship and deaths allegedly resulting from Wike’s policies, the lawyer reiterated his demand for immediate presidential action to prevent further turmoil in the FCT. "The actions of one man have left many displaced and suffering. We call on President Tinubu to relieve Nyesom Wike of his duties at once," he declared. To bring attention to the issue, the lawyer stated that he is also briefing key security officials, including the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Inspector General of Police, about the situation.

Peaceful Protest and Legal Action

In pursuit of a peaceful resolution, the lawyer emphasized his clients' commitment to seeking justice through legal channels. Additionally, they are planning a peaceful demonstration at the Presidential Villa and the National Assembly to raise awareness of the situation. "We want a peaceful resolution to this dispute without causing undue distress to the FCT residents," he concluded, underscoring his faith in the legal system and commitment to lawful actions.

This call to action seeks to bring the alleged misconduct to the President's attention and to restore stability and justice for the affected residents
