Ambassador Igali: Military Must Remain Professional — Wike Deserves Apology Over Abuja Incident
Wisdom Tide/November 12, 2925
The National Chairman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Ambassador Godknows Boladei Igali, has urged the Nigerian Armed Forces to maintain strict professionalism and avoid entanglement in civilian or private disputes.

Addressing reporters at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Ambassador Igali spoke on the ongoing controversy surrounding the Hon. Minister of the FCT, Chief Nyesom Wike, and a junior naval officer identified as Lt. A.M. Yerima, said to have been deployed on the orders of a retired Service Chief in connection with a property under investigation.

“This trend of using junior military personnel for private errands is dangerous and must stop. It compromises discipline, embarrasses the institution, and disrespects the civilian authority that the Constitution upholds,” Igali remarked.

He stressed that Chief Wike, as a senior member of the Federal Executive Council, deserves both respect and protection, especially while performing his official duties in line with presidential directives.

Ambassador Igali therefore called on the Nigerian Navy to issue a formal apology to the FCT Minister and on President Tinubu to ensure that those responsible for the unfortunate incident are held accountable.

He concluded by reaffirming that Nigeria’s democracy must be anchored on mutual respect between civil and military institutions, warning that “any erosion of that balance threatens the rule of law and the very soul of the republic
