Bamenda, Cameroon – The Africa Blue Economy Roundtable (ABER), a flagship initiative of the BRACED Tourism Promotion & Development Initiative (BTPDI), has concluded a strategic engagement with key stakeholders to advance the Blue Economy agenda in the North West Region of Cameroon.

The meeting, held in Bamenda on Tuesday, was led by Captain Patrice Lumumba, ABER Regional Facilitator for ECCAS/CEMAC. 

In attendance were: Senior Barrister Nana Suh Wilson – Principal Partner, NANA & Associates Law Firm, Junior Barrister Kwenji Neville – NANA & Associates Law Firm and Captain Patrice Lumumba – ECCAS/CEMAC Regional Facilitator, Africa Blue Economy Roundtable

Key Resolutions

The deliberations focused on building institutional partnerships to drive Blue Economy development in the region.

Institutional Collaboration: The team resolved to formalize a partnership with the authorities of the University of Bamenda in the areas of Blue Economy research, policy dialogue, youth capacity building, and the establishment of Blue Clubs in schools across the region.

Barristers Nana Suh Wilson and Kwenji Neville accepted to serve as legal resource persons on ABER’s continental networking platforms while Senior Barrister Nana Suh Wilson voluntarily accepted the role of Regional Coordinator for the North West Region, Cameroon. His mandate includes stakeholder mobilization, legal advocacy, and driving ABER programs in the region.

All parties expressed appreciation for the ABER initiative and pledged their full support toward promoting the sustainable use of Africa’s oceans, lakes, rivers, and waterways.

Speaking after the meeting, Captain Patrice Lumumba commended the legal team for their warm reception and commitment. He described the engagement as a major step toward domesticating the Blue Economy conversation in the North West Region.

The Africa Blue Economy Roundtable remains committed to building a voluntary, continent-wide network of experts and stakeholders to move Africa from resource extraction to value creation on our oceans, rivers, and lakes for the prosperity and wellbeing of all Africans.
