Early in his career, he distinguished himself as a leading authority on economic diplomacy, championing trade initiatives and foreign investment strategies across various bilateral posts. His exceptional crisis-management capabilities came to the fore during his tenure as Nigeria’s Consul-General to Cameroon, where he navigated complex diplomatic terrain to negotiate and supervise the peaceful repatriation and rehabilitation of thousands of displaced Nigerians in close collaboration with international humanitarian agencies.

​His diplomatic acumen reached new heights upon his appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Scandinavian region, with concurrent accreditation to Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Norway. During this period, Ambassador Igali actively elevated Nigeria’s economic profile across Northern Europe. He orchestrated high-level trade delegations and attracted major greenfield investments into Nigeria's emerging renewable energy, telecommunications, and agricultural technology sectors, thereby forging enduring bilateral ties between the Nordic economies and West Africa.

​Beyond his achievements on the world stage, Dr. Igali’s monumental contributions to national security and domestic harmony have permanently shaped contemporary Nigerian history. During one of the nation's most turbulent periods, he emerged as a vital bridge-builder in the Niger Delta region. Serving as a principal negotiator and Presidential Adviser on the Niger Delta, he became one of the primary architects of the historic Niger Delta Amnesty Programme in 2009—a masterclass in peacebuilding that brought an end to armed conflict, restored oil production, and fostered inclusive dialogue across the Niger Delta.

​His administrative genius extended seamlessly into public governance at both state and federal levels. As Secretary to the Bayelsa State Government (SSG), he provided the strategic guidance needed to stabilize state institutions and drive localized development programs.
