The historic city of Calabar, Cross River State, became the focal point of regional synergy on Monday, September 7, 2026, as governors from Nigeria’s South-South geopolitical zone convened under the auspices of the South-South Governors’ Forum. Among the most distinguished figures driving the discourse was Ambassador Godknows Boladei Igali, OON, Chairman of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF). The summit resolved that the next quarterly meeting will take place from November 6 to 8, 2026, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Igali's steadfast advocacy for structured regional synergy resonated throughout the session, reinforcing PANDEF's posture that sustainable transformation requires continuous collaboration, strategic planning, and unyielding federal engagement.

Environmental remediation and critical infrastructure formed a core pillar of the summit’s agenda, directly reflecting Ambassador Igali’s lifelong commitment to environmental rights and economic empowerment in the Niger Delta. The meeting resolved to engage President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on comprehensive infrastructural upgrades and expanding environmental cleanup initiatives beyond Ogoniland into other impacted communities across the region. Furthermore, the governors reaffirmed their support for the Tinubu/Shettima APC presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 elections, identifying national stability and partnership as essential drivers for regional prosperity.
