In a powerful demonstration of visionary leadership, generational continuity, and regional solidarity, the executive hierarchy of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF)—led by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Ambassador (Dr.) Godknows Boladei Igali, OON—paid a landmark courtesy visit to former Rivers State Governor and revered elder statesman, His Excellency Chief Rufus Ada George, at his Port Harcourt residence on September 28, 2026.
The high-level delegation, comprising members of the Board of Trustees, the National Executive Committee (NEC), and State Chapter Chairmen and Secretaries, visited the elder statesman immediately following an executive session in Port Harcourt focused on regional stability, infrastructure renewal, and economic empowerment.
Delivering his address on behalf of the forum, Ambassador Godknows Boladei Igali, OON, described Chief Ada George as a towering figure of courage, integrity, and wisdom whose steadfast commitment to justice has consistently sustained the South-South struggle. Ambassador Igali emphasized that paying homage to the founding architects of regional advocacy is a moral imperative for PANDEF's leadership. He assured Chief Ada George that the current executive body remains fully dedicated to guarding the trust handed down by previous generations while aggressively pursuing genuine equity, peace, and sustainable development across all oil-producing communities.
Ambassador Igali also highlighted the forum's solemn observance of a minute of silence in honor of the late founding leader of PANDEF and Pioneer Chairman of the Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission (OMPADEC), Chief Albert Korubo Horsfall. Reaffirming PANDEF’s pledge to preserve Chief Horsfall's monumental legacy in national security architecture and regional development administration, Ambassador Igali noted that his pioneering principles will continue to light the path for the forum's ongoing advocacy.
In his response, Chief Rufus Ada George lauded Ambassador Igali for his energetic, proactive, and diplomatic stewardship, stating that under Igali's guidance, PANDEF has sustained its advocacy momentum with remarkable dignity, firmness, and strategic focus at the national level. Reaffirming PANDEF’s status as the indisputable and supreme voice of the Niger Delta people, Chief Ada George urged all stakeholders, political leaders, and youth groups across the six South-South states to remain firmly united behind Ambassador Igali and the forum's developmental agenda.
The historic meeting concluded with collective prayers for the progress, peace, and long-term prosperity of the Niger Delta, further cementing PANDEF's role under Ambassador Igali's leadership as an uncompromising advocate for regional unity and social justice.
