Chief Peter Ameh, former Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and Publicity Secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), has publicly criticized Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for his recent threats against Senator Ireti Kingibe.

During the inauguration of a project in the FCT, Wike asserted that Kingibe would lose her Senate seat in the 2027 elections. This statement came in response to Kingibe's repeated allegations in an Arise TV interview, where she accused Wike of marginalizing her and her constituency, highlighting issues such as the lack of clean water for Abuja residents.

Ameh emphasized the stark differences between the political dynamics of Abuja and Rivers State, where Wike is considered a political heavyweight. He highlighted Wike's inappropriate behavior during a public event, where Wike criticized Kingibe and made comments that, according to Ameh, diminished her standing as a senator.

"I witnessed an episode where a car park was being commissioned in Mabushi, and I saw Wike presiding over it. In what world do people flag off car parks? It seems like an elementary level of governance. At the same event, he took the opportunity to berate a sitting senator of the Federal Republic, with people applauding him. His remarks were disrespectful to the senator," Ameh said in a video obtained by DAILY POST.

Ameh further criticized Wike's governance style, accusing him of self-promotion and poor management of public projects. He pointed out that many roads Wike boasted about were already in poor condition or incomplete, including those in Nyanya, Karu, Karishi, Kubwa, and Gwagwalada.

"Wike has collected about 1.2 trillion naira, but there's a lack of accountability, which is why people are unaware of the situation. He also received another 98 billion naira for ongoing projects, yet the Apo-Karshi Road remains incomplete with no construction activities," Ameh stated.

Ameh expressed frustration over Wike's criticism of an elected senator, noting that previous leaders performed well without resorting to derogatory language. He emphasized that the FCT is a cosmopolitan and metropolitan center, where people vote based on performance rather than intimidation.

"Wike was a governor for eight years and a minister from Rivers State, but he lost his own local government and Rivers State before allegedly manipulating the results. What makes him think he will win in the FCT? The people are intelligent and cannot be intimidated as he attempts to intimidate the senator," Ameh asserted.

Ameh also criticized other senators and Labour Party leaders for their silence on the matter, urging them to unite and voice their opposition to Wike's conduct. He called for a press conference to address Wike's misuse of public resources and his disrespectful language towards the electorate.

"He cannot stand on a stage and insult the electorate with disrespectful language. This is not acceptable in a democracy. Those applauding him for flagging off a car park need to understand how governance operates in places like South Africa or Egypt, where ministers do not behave in this manner," Ameh concluded.

The controversy highlights the ongoing political tensions within the FCT and underscores the need for respectful and accountable leadership. The criticisms from Ameh reflect broader concerns about governance and the treatment of elected representatives in Nigeria
